Worth Waiting For

Sep 29, 2007 Author: Elizabeth | Filed under: Meme, Music, Politics, TV

I thought I would let you all know what my Thursday Thirteen is going to be next week so that I can, you know, create a buzz. You won’t want to miss this one.

Thirteen Songs I Would Sing If I Were Ever On American Idol

But that’s about as likely as “I’m-A-Dinner-Jacket” and our fearless leader having brunch tomorrow, followed by a round of mini-golf. Still, be here next Wednesday around 5 p.m.!

Thursday Thirteen #28

Sep 27, 2007 Author: Elizabeth | Filed under: Listy, Meme, TV, Thursday Thirteen
In honor of the premiere of Season 4 of The Office

My Top Thirteen Favorite Episodes of The Office (US)

13. Christmas Party - Lots of sweetness between Jim and Pam. I
love it.
12. E-mail Surveillance - We get to see where Jim lives! Sidenote:
I absolutely cannot stand Michael’s improv scenes. They make me
feel so sad for him.
11. Ben Franklin - Dwight: I don’t care what Jim says, that is not
the real Ben Franklin. I am 99% sure.
10. Halloween - Dwight as a Sith Lord. So great.
9. Boys and Girls - Dwight: Remember on LOST when they meet
“the Others”?
8. Business School - A bat. In the office. Jim. As a vampire. And I
must admit that every time I see that poor kid’s text book getting
ripped up by Michael, I cringe. Because, my friends, that is real pain.
7. The Return - Andy [To Michael] - “I forgot to tell you the plan
for this Saturday. You, me, bar, beers, buzzed. Wings, shots, drunk!
Waitresses - hot! Football, Cornell-Hofstra, slaughter! Then quick
nap at my place, then we hit the tizzown.” And then there’s “Rockin’
Robin.”
6. The Carpet - There is poop on the floor. That is comedy, folks.
5. Drug Testing - Once again, Dwight in costume (well, uniform).
4. Casino Night - The night so many of us had been waiting for.
Sigh. Together at last…not.
3. Women’s Appreciation - See this.
2. Initiation - Dwight’s cousin Mose jumping out of nowhere to fight
Ryan is one of my favorite scenes, period. “What… is the DHARMA
Initiative?!”
1. The Injury - It’s been my favorite for a long time. Nothing has
been able to bump it out of its spot yet. Michael GRILLS his foot
on a George Forman Grill. “I like waking up to the smell of bacon.
Sue me.”

Back and Better Than Ever

Well…that was a lie. But I promise that tomorrow there is going to be an extra super Thursday Thirteen. You will not regret tuning in for my opinion on some very timely subject matter. I’m going to be up all night doing research, just so I can get this right for you folks.

While you wait, please enjoy the following. It is my fellow (ohgoodgrief) Oklahoman, Mike Gundy, going on a tirade against a girl who thinks she’s a sports writer nice young lady (Jenni Carlson) who works for The Oklahoman. (Crossed out because I might apply for a job there someday.)

Please excuse my absence. Last Thursday, my Mac decided to destroy its hard drive (at less than one month old). Just got him back today and he’s feeling much better.

Because you don’t know it yet, but you want my opinion on this stuff. (All times CST)

10:02 - 30 Rock? Peace out.
9:52 - Aww, America Ferrera, you so pretty.
9:28 - Ahhh! And John Krasinski’s date might not want to chew her gum at all in public. Or at least close her mouth.
9:26 - Rainn Wilson is about to sing Kanye West!
9:24 - Ryan Seacrest. In tights. Trying to pretend this isn’t a normal occurrence.
9:17 - YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! The Office! FINALLY! Best Writing for a Comedy Series, in case you were wondering.
9:14 - Let’s just watch Elaine Stritch all night. This is good.
9:06 - Kevin says, “So that’s why he said he invented the internet!!” Al Gore, if I were my little brother I would say, “Shut your pie hole.”
8:45 - Jersey Boys! Yay! I think I may want “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” as the recessional at my wedding. This will have to be discussed. I’ll keep you posted.
8:21 - Nice little bit about The Office there. “Or wherever else he’s shooting a movie.” *stare*
8:19 - Bored. Ready for Jersey Boys
7:52 - Christina Aguilera really looks like she has it together now. Slowing down on the fake tan might be a good idea though.
7:44 - I have watched Conan maybe once. I know. He is terribly funny though.
7:24 - Sad face
7:23 - Come on Jenna!
7:16 - Woo! Terry O’Quinn…love this guy. And he’s wearing a shiny pink shirt with a sparkly black tie. What a nice fella.
7:13 - Aww, Rainn Wilson didn’t get it. Jeremy Piven = Moonface.
7:10 - Ooooh, Terry O’Quinn! And other LOST people.
7:09 - Were they supposed to pan to the ceiling and cut the sound?
7:08 - For the record, not everyone loves Raymond.
7:03 - Panning to T.R. Knight when singing about Isaiah Washington (comparing him to Michael Richards). Real classy.
7:00 - Round stage? To quote Michael Scott, “Me no likey.” And Family Guy? No, thanks, I’ll take the lobotomy.
6:41 - Judith Light! Who’s the Boss now, Tony Danza? I mean, she’s on Law & Order and that makes you qualified to be President of the United States.
6:36 - Helen Mirren just might be the prettiest lady in the world.

Panties. Pimpernel. Pocahontas.

Sep 12, 2007 Author: Elizabeth | Filed under: Clothing, Daily, Music, Photos, Videos

So many different things lead people to this blog. Whether it’s the various links from other bloggers, Thursday Thirteen, or deciding who you’re going to vote for in the 2007 Okie Blog Awards (nominated for Best Writing Blog!), I’m glad that each of you stop by. But by far, the most interesting thing about having this blog is seeing what keyword searches lead people here. Let me tell you, I get some doozies.

university of oklahoma panties — Okay, this one is pretty easy to explain. For the 2004 OU/texas game, Heather and I made festive panties. They’ve been a hit here on the internet.

OU panties

do not date them — This could mean a lot of things, but if you need the names of these guys I can definitely supply you with a list of downright scoundrels.

ou scarlet pimpernel — Yes! The Scarlet Pimpernel is going to be at the University of Oklahoma next month and I am terribly excited. I will be there and you should be, too. “Don’t be afraid, it’s only love!”

Of course, I saved the best (weirdest) for (nearly) last.

bad cough body aches slight fever slept with cat what do i have?

You poor, poor dear. I have no idea what you’ve got (nor how your search led you here, because I have never slept with a cat. I hope to do that someday, but since my dad is still my landlord, there will be no cats in this house for a long, long time.), but I’d suggest that you get yourself to a doctor.

The latest search to bring someone here was “shanice i cant imagine music codes.” While I don’t have any music codes around here and I’m not familiar with that song, there was one song of Shanice’s that I LOVED back in 1995. Oh yes my friends.

And while we’re at it, here’s the deleted scene that featured the song (with a singing Mel Gibson!) from Disney’s Pocahontas.
