Lauren, I know how you feel. I ain’t no “Spanish oral.”
Tonight was the first class period of my last course in my college career. It’s the second level of intermediate Spanish. Did I mention that I really can’t speak Spanish? Okay, now that we have that covered maybe you can understand how difficult it is to sit through 2.5 hours of nothing but that. Really. To anyone who ever goes to any country ever (including America, because English ain’t easy my friend) and can’t understand what’s going on, you have my sympathy. I know I’m being a baby about it. However, the only thing getting me through is knowing that it’s just once a week and that there is English on the other side. When I get out of class I get to go right back to my first language. I can’t imagine being somewhere where that was not possible

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I have a Spanish minor, but I definitely barely squeaked by in Spanish conversation or whatever the class is called. I can’t stand to speak another language, no matter how much I know it. There’s hope though (which is good since I wanna live overseas one day)…when I was walking around Turkey (okay, different language, same problem) with two others who spoke NO Turkish, suddenly my 100 word vocabulary of mostly food words was put to use. I now know that I can speak other languages, it’s just a matter of swallowing my pride and doing it.
I once took a 7:00 am Spanish class (English major requirement, too) and I would find myself wondering how to phrase my questions in Spanish during my 8:00 English class. Taking a butt-early class for great parking spaces is highly overrated.
found you through pw comment.
