I know I announced that I’d be doing this new weekly post a few weeks back and then never did, but let’s just pretend like it’s going to be THAT GREAT and I needed a whole lot of time to plan it out. Yeah. That’s it.
Welcome to the first edition of Sunday Morning Coffee. Why Sunday Morning Coffee? Well, because it’s Sunday. And I’m drinking coffee, just like I do every Sunday morning. For it to be a day of rest for me I have to get up and allow myself enough time to actually *rest*. I know that waking up early seems to defeat the purpose, but hear me out.
I am a piddler. I like to have 3 hours to do something that should only take one. Do I usually behave in that manner? No, because my life is just too busy to allow it. My mother would be surprised to learn that I often shower, dress, fix my hair, put on makeup, and am out the door for work in less than 30 minutes. And believe me, that is a flippin’ miracle. You don’t even want to know how many times I missed the bus in 9th grade because I still had rollers in my hair.
So anyway, I’m usually awake by 7am on any given Sunday. My first stop is the coffee pot, where I make a pot of Starbucks Caffè Verona® then I go into the living room and turn on the computer while I wait for the coffee to brew. My first things to check are of course my Gmail and Google Reader, next I’m onto GodlyGals and then Twitter. After checking those few things, I get my coffee and whatever breakfast I might be having that day, return to the living room, and thoroughly enjoy the next hour and a half of my morning. The tv is often tuned to Fox & Friends Sunday, or if I happen to see a movie on that looks interesting I will stop there. There always seems to be quite a variety playing on Sunday mornings, and as a child when we drove 45 minutes to church every Sunday I rarely got to see any of those. This is a treat for me. Now I live literally 2 minutes from the church I attend, instead of 45. To top all that off, my parents liked to be early…for SUNDAY SCHOOL. That meant we were there around 8:45. And that I had been awake since 6. Yawn. I’m tired just thinking about it.
I guess this edition will just be an introduction. Most Sundays I will share what I’ve been checking out on the internet in the preceding week. Oh yes, it will be fun.
