Here’s what I recommend:

  1. getting married
  2. quitting a job you’re overqualified for
  3. starting a new job

Only not all at once. And certainly not before you’ve even opened all the wedding gifts. That is exactly what I did though. The last time I posted I was in the middle of applying for a job that is much more suited to my abilities, with a better schedule, and that allows my husband and I to carpool. Within a few days of the interview I was offered the job and given a date that I would be starting. One that was very, very close to the current date at the time. So I did something that I had always wondered how to go about. I quit my job. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to give them much less than two weeks notice. In quite a whirlwind of activity I found myself at a new place, in an office of my own, in an entirely different industry, and with some very different expectations.

And here I am. Three months later. I have already faced more than I thought would come my direction and it’s no exaggeration to say that I am learning something new, bizarre, or scary everyday. My job is interesting and unpredictable on a lot of levels and that is a huge change from the monotony I had been sitting through for the past year. I am thankful for the friendships that I made at the old job, but the new one is really more what I was looking for. And I get holidays. It is a “win” no matter how you look at it.

With that I would like to say that I will be blogging more regularly. The truth is that I would love to, but I’m not sure how it will go. It’s different, being married and building a home with someone. We didn’t live together before the wedding so everything is new. I am busy with some domestic endeavors, a few side projects that I hope will turn into something bigger and profitable, and I am trying to read more. Reading for pleasure sadly fell by the way-side during and after college. I am hoping to change that and get back in the habit. With the reading I’d like to pick up the writing as well. We’ll see.

Hello, again.
