What a great idea!

I love love love reading, and it usually takes me the first chapter (or two) to get into it. If a books sucks at the beginning it's very rare that it gets better for me. I usually do stick it out to the end though. Can't let a book go half read. :)

Depending on the book, it usually takes 30-50 pages. I find it's best to read that first bit in one setting, but that's not always possible.

I had a hard time getting into The Birth House, but I did enjoy it once I did. I was a bit sad at the end of it. I suppose I got a little too attached to the characters (as per usual).

I am usually very impatient about getting into books. If it does not pull me in within the first couple of chapters, I don't finish it.

I tend to give up really easily (life is short - why read crappy books?), so if it takes more than 100 pages, I usually toss it. SOMETIMES I'll try again later, because my season in life can affect my opinion of the book.

It usually depends on the book. I'm reading Friday Night Knitting Club right now and I got into it in about 25 pages, but that's incredibly fast for me.

On average, maybe 75 pages? Less for lighthearted books (or generally fantastic ones) and more for really dense novels.
