Great post! Religion and I haven't really been the best of friends, mostly because I felt what I've learned throughout my time at church as a kid never really made much sense. It was things like you mentioned in your post that frustrated me.

I grew up going to various churches, Church of God, Southern Baptist, went to a Bible church on occasions in college (which is where I felt more comfortable), but I always got confused on what each denomination said was 'the thing to do'.

I also didn't agree with the ask and ye shall receive bit. Sure, things will come your way, but not everything may be in your best interest.

I've also never been baptized. I had a minor traumatic experience at summer bible school once that left a really bad taste in my mouth. I was pressured to get baptized even though I was not ready and not comfortable and was told many things that really frustrated and scared me.

Anyway, thanks for the post.
